Subaru has officially issued two global recalls for vehicles which may be fitted with defective valve springs or multi-info instrument cluster displays. Motor Image confirms it will notify affected customers in Malaysia about the recall, and will replace the parts free of charge. In the case of potentially defective valve springs, vehicles manufactured from January 16, 2012 to May 14, 2013 are affected. These include models powered by either the FA20 or FB20 boxer engines –, 2013-2014 MY Legacy/Outback, 2012-2014 MY Forester. As explained, the valve springs in affected engines could fracture at high loads, leading to issues such as the engine stalling, abnormal engine noise and the inability to restart the engine.

Replacing the valve springs is a necessary precautionary measure to prevent such a possibility. As for the matter involving multi-info displays, Subaru says a programming issue may cause inaccurate data relating to the vehicle’s remaining fuel and range, being shown on the display. This recall affects the 2018 MY Legacy/Outback vehicles made before August 1, 2018. Full details and specifications of the new have been released by UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT). The eighth-generation Camry enters the Malaysian market in a single 2.5V spec, priced at RM189,900 on-the-road excluding insurance., but the price tag is classified as “estimated”. More than just a sleek new reskin, the “Beautiful Monster” is fresh under the skin. It sits on the company’s Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform that’s said to improve stability, agility and safety all at once.

The new Camry is longer (+35 mm for 4,885 mm), wider (+15 mm for 1,840 mm) and sits lower than before (-25 mm for 1,445 mm). The 2,825 mm wheelbase is 50 mm longer, which means overhangs are now shorter. Those are all stance improving stats. The suspension is made up of front MacPherson struts and rear double wishbones.

A parallel axis EPS system steers 18-inch wheels with 235/45 tyres. Under the hood is the familiar 2AR-FE 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine, carried over from the outgoing Camry along with a six-speed auto.

The Dual VVT-i and ACIS-equipped unit makes 184 PS and 235 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. That’s 4 PS more than the outgoing rating. The continuation of the 2AR-FE means that we’re not geting the latest 2.5 litre Dynamic Force engine that’s – that motor has 209 PS/250 Nm, and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also not here is the Thai market’s hybrid variant, although we expect a 2.0L version to join the range. We move on to features, and heading the list (literally) is the automatic bi-LED projector headlamps with LED turn signals. Also in LED are the daytime running lights, fog lamps and rear lights. All LED, basically.

Other exterior kit include 18-inch rims, hydrophilic auto retractable wing mirrors (linked to memory), auto wipers and dual exhaust tips. Inside, UMWT’s flagship sedan comes with “smooth leather” seats, eight-way powered front seats (power lumbar and memory for driver, shoulder switch and collapsible headrest on passenger side), power adjustable steering (linked to memory), an eight-inch capacitive touchscreen display with navigation, nine-speaker JBL audio system, and a seven-inch colour multi-info display between two Optitron dials. Ahead of the instrument panel is a 10-inch colour head-up display (HUD).

Also included is an electrochromic rear view mirror, keyless entry and push start, electronic parking brake (with auto brake hold), dual-zone auto air con with rear vents, sun shades (powered for rear screen, manual for rear doors), wireless smartphone charger and digital video recorder (dashcam). On the safety front, the new Camry comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of systems, which include Pre-collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beam. This is in addition to seven airbags (dual front, side, curtain, driver’s knee), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, hill start assist, front/rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Six colours are available, and they are the hero Red Mica, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Silver Metallic, Graphite Metallic and Burning Black CS GF. UMWT’s security and solar film is included. Other features include a 360-degree surround view system, reverse camera, dual-zone automatic climate control in front and air vents for the second (pillar-mounted dual-zone blower control) and third rows (roof-mounted single-zone blower control), and a powered tailgate with hands-free operation. There’s more safety and driver assist systems now, with the addition of Active Safety Brake that works at speed of up to 30 km/h to prevent a collision; Speed Limit Recognition; and Driver Attention Alert. Taxi groups have lately on the government with the same old demand – stop ride hailing, stop Grab. To no one’s surprise, that’s not going to happen.

Not under the previous administration, not now. According to, transport minister Anthony Loke has reiterated that the government will not give in to the demands of taxi groups who want them to ban ride hailing or e-hailing services using private cars, such as Grab. Loke said the government was aware of the problems faced by taxi drivers, but the issues need to be looked at more thoroughly – not only from the perspective of the cabbies but, who are all for more options. He also had a message for the taxi groups, which essentially reads “if you can’t beat them, join them.” “Our purpose is to encourage taxi drivers to use e-hailing applications, whether it is from Grab or other companies, (we should) not focus on Grab only as there are 20 to 30 e-hailing companies in the country, there are many more options,” he said when winding up the half-term review of the 11th Malaysia Plan for the ministry yesterday night. Loke also urged MPs to use allocations in their respective parliamentary constituencies to jointly assist taxi driver associations in using smartphones, which will enable them to use e-hailing technology., a group of cabbies behaved in a rude manner as they uttered harsh words and created a ruckus before walking out on prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Langkawi. The PM was explaining the issue of e-hailing and had said that Grab drivers would be asked to use vehicles approved by the government, as well as pay insurance and taxes like taxis to ensure a level playing ground.

“I have brought this up in cabinet. I told the (transport) minister to fix it, but unfortunately, there has been no progress. I will try again, I too feel it’s unfair,” Mahathir was quoted as saying by the. The following day, deputy transport minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar explained that the will be implemented in stages to ensure smooth operation for all parties. The process will begin on January 1 next year and will take six months, he said.

The latest is quite nice on its own, but some will point out an obvious flaw – the lack of a V8 engine option. See, the F-150 Raptor comes with a 3.5 litre EcoBoost that makes 450 hp, which is plenty for some and “cute” for others.

For those associated with the latter, the good people at Hennessey Performance (HPE) have “heard their cries and answered their prayers” with the 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor V8. Not to be confused with the or the that also bear the ‘VelociRaptor’ name, HPE’s latest creation is exactly as it sounds. The team takes a standard F-150 Raptor, removes its EcoBoost V6 and slots in a Ford-sourced 5.0 litre V8 engine.

Knowing the way HPE operates, the engine then gets a 2.9 litre supercharger bolted on and boosted to seven psi, so the engine now makes 758 hp. All other necessary items like a Ford 10-speed automatic transmission, wiring harnesses, ECUs, and others, are part of the engine swap routine. Performance-wise, the VelociRaptor V8 will complete the 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint in 4.1 seconds. “We are so excited to introduce our VelociRaptor V8 – the first and only V8-powered Gen 2 Ford Raptor,” said company founder and CEO, John Hennessey. “Our customers have been begging for a V8 option for their new Raptors since the truck first came out in early 2017. We heard their calls and are so pleased to meet this need in the market. The sound of the VelociRaptor V8 is so worth it!” Also included in the conversion package are VelociRaptor bumpers, LED front lights, Stage 2 off-road suspension, six-inch lift kit, 20-inch alloys wrapped with 37-inch BF Goodrich KM03 off-road tyres, as well as dedicated badges, embroidery, and plaques.

The cost of one is USD147,950 (RM619,096), which includes the price of the standard truck and a three-year warranty. HPE will only be making 100 units of the VelociRaptor V8 for the 2019 model year. Introduced by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) alongside the today is the 4Matic sedan, which rolls in to replace the that was introduced here last year. Like its regulation siblings, the AMG version gets visual enhancements as well as new kit, and here, the existing engine has also been updated to offer more output. Styling-wise, the refresh updates the looks with the inclusion of a twin-louvre AMG grille and additional flics on the front apron, while the rear end features a more prominent diffuser and circular exhaust pipes. Dressed with an AMG Line exterior, the local variant features Multibeam LED headlights with adaptive high beam assist plus, an AMG spoiler lip and an AMG sport exhaust system. It rides on 19-inch twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels, which are wrapped with 225/40 front and 255/35 rear profile tyres.

Inside, the revised C 43 comes with the same 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster display as that found on the standard C-Class as well as a choice of three display styles, though in this case the Classic, Sport and Supersport layouts are AMG-specific. It can also be customised to show specific functions such as engine data, g-force and a race timer. The size of the central media display has also been upped, now a 10.25-inch unit. In terms of infotainment, the AMG variant gets a COMAND Online system in place of the Audio 20 GPS seen on the C 200 and C 300 versions, with a Burmester sound system in tow. The presence of COMAND also brings about an AMG Track Pace feature, which allows owners to gather relevant track-driving data. And, like the standard C-Class, there’s full smartphone integration here, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Moving inside, the local car gets a black interior and AMG matte silver fibreglass trim as part of its AMG Line interior pack, and the dashboard and belt lines are finished in Artico leather. Elsewhere, there’s a new-style flat-bottomed AMG performance steering wheel finished in Dinamica microfibre, and red designo seat belts are also to be found. Standard equipment includes Thermotronic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, Keyless Go, a remote bootlid closing fucntion, 360-degree surround view camera, a Tirefit system as well as active lane keeping assist and blind spot assist. Safety kit includes seven airbags and automatic emergency braking as standard across the local C-Class range. Tweaks to the M276 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6 has resulted in a hike in power to 385 hp at 6,100 rpm, which is 23 hp more than before. Maximum torque remains at 520 Nm, but the peak is now available from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm (previously, 2,000 to 4,000 rpm). Paired with a nine-speed AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic transmission, along with an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system in tow, the C 43 sedan needs only 4.7 seconds to do the 0-100 km/h sprint – top speed remains electronically limited at 250 km/h.

The previously seen AMG Ride Control adaptive damping continues on, with no changes to rates, though there’s now an additional mode for the AMG Dynamic Select system, which tailors engine, transmission and steering response. Slippery joins the existing Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual to make it five. The facelifted Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic is locally-assembled and is priced at RM421,999 on-the-road without insurance. Financing options are available for the facelifted C-Class range, Flex-C offering a variety of packages, with monthly prices starting from RM2,688 (based on a three-year tenure and downpayment of 22% for the C 200 Avantgarde).

Until December 31, all Flex-C financing contracts will include a complimentary first year tyre and rim insurance package. You can check out the s at. The AMG C 43 4Matic will also be on show at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) taking place this weekend on November 3 and 4, 2018 at Setia City Convention Centre, so come check it out there. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has officially introduced the in the country., the refreshed compact executive sedan – which made its earlier this year – arrives here in two variant forms, the C 200 Avantgarde and the C 300 AMG Line, both locally-assembled from the get-go. The was also launched at the same time today. The exterior revisions are subtle – at the front, changes include new bumper designs available for different equipment lines, and the C 200 gets a twin-louvre grille while the AMG Line trim adds on a diamond pin grille on the C 300.

Elsewhere, the headlamps now get new internals, and Multibeam LED with 84 diodes and Ultra Range high-beam find their way on to higher-spec’d models. As for the rear, the rear LED tail lamps retain their shape but get new C-shaped light guides, and the bumper now has a new lower section, with the geometry, trim and exhaust finishers varying dependent on the equipment level. Completing the exterior update are new wheel designs.

Though the layout remains familiar ground, the interior also gets freshened up, the obvious changes being a new steering wheel, a 12.3-inch, 1,920 x 720 pixel-resolution fully digital instrument display which offers three displays styles (Classic, Sport and Progressive) to choose from. The central display also gets a larger 10.25-inch size screen, which the local cars are equipped with. A new M264 engine makes its way on to the car, and both displacement capacities available for the unit find their way here.

The C 200 gets the 1.5 litre twin-scroll turbo unit, which offers 181 hp (184 PS) at 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 3,000 to 4,000 rpm. The 1.5 litre unit features an EQ Boost 48-volt electrical system incorporating a belt-driven starter/alternator, which is able to support the engine with 13 hp (10 kW) and 160 Nm of boost when needed, and performance figures for the variant include a 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds and a 239 km/h top speed. The C 300 comes with the M264 in its 2.0 litre form, the twin-scroll turbocharged mill offering a slight increase in power output compared to before, with a peak 255 hp (258 PS) available at the same rpm as that on the 1.5 litre engine, making for a 14 hp increase from the 241 hp (245 PS) available from the previous M274 mill. Maximum torque remains unchanged at 370 Nm, but is now available from 1,800 rpm compared to the 1,300 rpm it was previously, with peak remaining at 4,000 rpm. As expected, the variant is faster, making the run from standstill to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and maxing out at 250 km/h. Both C 200 and C 300 variants are equipped with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed transmission, which is new to the C 300 in its facelifted form, the never featuring it. Also new to the C 300 in its facelifted form is the inclusion of the automaker’s Airmatic suspension.

Equipment-wise, the C 200 comes dressed with an Avantgarde exterior, with the central trim element of the front bumper finished in high-sheen chrome and the air inlets mesh in grained black, and the car rides on 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and 225/45 front and 245/40 rear profile tyres. Standard equipment on the variant – which in Avantgarde guise features Artico leather upholstery (in a choice of black or grey) and new open-pore grey oak wood trim – includes LED High Performance headlamps, an Agility Control suspension, Keyless Go, an Audio 20 GPS infotainment system as well as smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. New items also make their way on to the driver-assistance components list. Aside from active parking assist, reverse camera and Speedtronic cruise control, the C 200 Avantgarde adds on Blind Spot Assist, which operates from around 10 km/h up to 200 km/h. As for the C 300, the variant features an AMG Line exterior and interior, complete with black open pore ash wood trim. Three interior colours (black, brown and red) are available for the car, which rides on 19-inch five twin-spoke AMG wheels and 225/40 front and 255/35 profile tyres.

The higher specification model adds on Multibeam LED with Ultra Range headlamps, a Burmester sound system to the Audio 20 GPS system and an AMG sports steering wheel in nappa leather. There’s also an electronic panoramic sunroof, a surround view camera as well as Active Lane Keeping Assist, which warns the driver via pulsed vibrations at the steering wheel when the vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane at speeds between 60 and 200 km/h, and can pull the vehicle back into lane by applying the brakes on one side. Other safety kit includes seven airbags, active brake assist and autonomous emergency braking as standard on both models. The Mercedes-Benz C 200 Avantgarde is priced at RM259,888, while the C 300 AMG Line goes for RM304,888, both on-the-road without insurance. That’s a slight increase of RM4k over the corresponding pre-facelift examples (the and plug-in hybrid) at the point prior to the removal of GST.

As usual, MBM has financing options available for the facelifted C-Class – its Flex-C financing offers a variety of packages, and starts from RM2,688 (based on a three-year tenure and downpayment of 22% for the C 200 Avantgarde).
